Law Graduate

James is a law graduate in Shand Taylor's Building, Construction and Infrastructure team. James obtained his Bachelor of Law (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology.

James was previously appointed as an Associate to a Judge of the District Court of Queensland in 2024. 

​

James has been involved in a number of high-profile disputes, including: 

​

• Acting for a principal regarding a claim for more than $1.5M for variations and delay damages in respect of a high profile residential apartment building at the Gold Coast. 

• Acting for a principal to recover more than $800,000 for financing interest in addition to claims for liquidated damages from a contractor.

• Acting for a subcontractor in defence of a claim for liquidated damages in excess of $5M.

James supports our team in all areas of construction law, with a particular focus on dispute resolution and litigation, including:

​

• payment and other disputes under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2018 (Qld);

• preparation of applications for adjudication, payment schedules, claims, notices, and deeds of settlement;

• disputes involving the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.
